HIV/AIDS poses the greatest challenge to health and well being of the people. HIV/AIDS has placed a burden on the household resources through rising medical expenditure. The epidemic has hit the traditionally labour intensive agricultural systems. As a result it has contributed significantly to household poverty. Other factors behind the high infection rates are associated with increased social hardship, DRC refugee influx, household poverty and urbanization. The district through QUAMM is constructing a separate ward for HIV/AIDS related consideration treatment in Nebbi Hospital
